Is Moving to 2022 Feeling Like a Non-Event to You?

This new year is starting with a whimper instead of a bang. Everyone appears uncomfortable. Is it just me, or is moving to 2022 feeling like a non-event to you?

Today is the first Tuesday of the year. I love Tuesdays! Read a previous post of mine here for details: https://www.outwittinglife.com/fifteen-reasons-tuesdays-are-special/

Why am I not crazy excited? I want to be, I do, but I am struggling to muster up the energy to celebrate this year’s first Tuesday. I am disappointed in myself.

Maybe it’s because we didn’t have our family Christmas until this past Sunday. Covid derailed our holiday. Many of our friends had their plans canceled on them also. It was not a “warm and fuzzy” week between Christmas and New Year’s.

Most people I know didn’t celebrate New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day at all. It was a non-event, as far as I could tell. What did you do to mark the new year?

Moving into 2022
You pick the day.

Did you write down any new year’s resolutions for 2022? How did your 2021 resolutions go? Did you nail them? I have not seen many people posting last year’s list with green check marks next to everything. Have you?

2020 was the year that I thought was an anomaly. So, undoubtedly, 2021 was going to be better. But, I am not convinced that it was. The past two years have made people suspicious of making a list for 2022. People are afraid to set expectations for themselves.

I believe it is time we take back control and refuse to let fear curb our efforts this new year. The world does not need to hit the pause button anymore. Tuesday is an excellent day to write some affirmations.

Affirmations to Help Moving to 2022

  • I know 2022 will be an excellent year for my family and me.
  • My blog will successfully help others deal with breast cancer and it’s affects.
  • Outwitting Life will become the mantra for those facing adversity in 2022.
  • I will gratefully accept God’s will for me this new year.

Each morning, I am going to recite these affirmations. There are so many people I know that swear by this process, so I will give it a try. For starters, it should shake off the lazy feeling I’ve had the past few weeks.

I know this won’t be easy, but I have to try. Being in limbo is very uncomfortable for me. Moving forward is how I roll!

There are so many things I plan on accomplishing in 2022. I’ve learned that I will never be too old to learn something new as long as I am living. We are so fortunate to live in a world ripe with technology that affords us the ability to learn anything we want to. The possibilities are endless!

Goal setting moving into 2022
What will your story be like in 2022?

I love that there is a YouTube video for everything! It is my go-to spot all the time. What new things would you like to learn this year? Have you thought about it?

Things I Plan to Learn This Year

Closet Organization – Did you know organizing a closet is a “thing?” Some experts will teach you, and companies will install all sorts of gadgets that will keep your closet organized. However, these services typically have a price tag.

Not sure about you, but I do not have a closet organization line item in my 2022 budget. Luckily, some influencers post video tutorials on how to organize your closets. I intend to start there. Here is the Good Housekeeping magazine article that inspired me to take this on: https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/organizing/g2171/diy-closet-organizers/?slide=30.

Meditation – There are various types of meditation practiced worldwide. I would love to learn how to minimize stress through meditation. Is that something that you are already doing? I am open to recommendations as I have so many options to pursue. Please let me know if something is working for you.

How to Stop Procrastinating – I am guilty of procrastinating, not all of the time, but enough times that I’d like to work on it. If I make a promise to get something done, I will. But why do I leave it to the last minute? Perhaps if I learned to stop procrastinating, I wouldn’t need to meditate to alleviate my stress. Just a thought…I think I’m going to move this one up a notch.

New Year’s Traditions

When I was younger, I dreaded the start of a new year. Everyone made New Year’s resolutions that involved starting a diet. I was always chubby and could never stick to a diet, so I felt defeated before the new year started. When I was of drinking age, I never liked going out on New Year’s Eve night. It was a free for all! So many kids would get drunk and get sick; it was ridiculous.

Thank goodness I am past that stage of my life. All I have to do now is put on pajamas and watch the ball drop on TV. This year I got fancy and wore my leopard print slippers. Woo-hoo, I was such a wild woman. Did you do anything special on New Year’s Eve this year? What are your traditions for ushering in a new year?

As usual, please let me know in the comment section below if anything I’ve written resonated with you. Happy New Year to you and your family. May 2022 be everything you hope it will be!

    Loretta,

Thank you for your blog this week and I can relate to everything.

I did review my New Years resolutions from last year and I did not accomplish all my resolution however, this is a new year and I will do better this year (I hope). Also, I believe 2022 will be better than last year we all just need to stay positive and adjust to the changes that happen every day.
